Cocoa slid the phone across the table. Amber’s eyes scanned the screenshots, her stomach twisting as she read:

Another $7,500 withdrawn in cash.
A message from Anthony to Shayla: “This should cover Kai’s school and the other things we talked about. Keep this between us.”
Amber’s hands trembled. “No… no, this can’t be real. He told me we were broke, Cocoa. He told me we couldn’t afford our vacation because the business was slow. And all this time… he was giving Shayla money?”
Cocoa nodded grimly. “Not just money. He promised her protection, too. He swore he wouldn’t expose her lies about Kai… as long as she stayed quiet about something that happened the night he was drunk.”
Amber’s breath caught in her throat. “So he did have something to hide that night…”

Amber pushed back from the table, tears streaming down her cheeks. “All this time, I thought Shayla was the problem. I thought she was the one keeping us broken. But Anthony… HE was the one feeding her, protecting her, making sure she never went away!”
Cocoa reached for her hand, her eyes soft. “I didn’t want to be the one to tell you. But you deserve to know, Amber. Anthony’s deal with Shayla wasn’t about Kai. It was about keeping his own secrets buried. And now, he’s drowning you in lies to do it.”
Amber stood, her chest heaving with betrayal. “I gave him everything, Cocoa. My trust, my love, my future. And he took it all… just to keep Shayla close.”

At that exact moment, the front door opened. Anthony walked in, smiling faintly as if nothing was wrong. But his smile dropped when he saw Cocoa and Amber sitting together, the phone with the proof still glowing on the table.

Anthony stood frozen, his whole world crumbling in front of him.
